New Hires At Relish

It has been a very busy few months for us here at Relish, which means we are even more delighted to add two new staff members to the Relish team. Introducing Tom and Florence….

TOM LEA

-What is your background in the research field/education?

I previously worked in the youth space, where I set up a qualitative research team to deliver monthly trend reports to major brands such as Nike, Lego and Universal Music Group (amongst others). The aim was to be the voice of kids and teenagers in order to assist with the development of strategies by giving brands a greater understanding of current trends and their implications.  This specialism led to exciting opportunities to speak at panels and conferences.  My proudest and most memorable achievement was speaking on behalf of young people to the Swedish royal family (especially as my Mum is Swedish).

-What are your fields of interest when it comes to anything research related?

Qualitative research that explores the behaviours and motivations of real people is needed more than ever before. With so many ways for people to engage with brands, and even more paths to purchase, brands are recognising the need to understand these nuances and put them at the centre of their NPD and growth strategies.

-What are your hobbies and what do you like to do outside of work?

Live music has been an ever-present passion of mine for the last 15 years. Elton John, Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Arctic Monkeys, Florence and the Machine (in a pub and in a Greek amphitheatre) are just some of my highlights, alongside my current favourite, Fontaines DC.
I have to admit, sport can take up far too much of my spare time! From football to NFL, cricket to darts, rugby to F1, put any sport in front of me and I will watch it.
On a quieter note, there is also no better place to get away and reflect than being up a mountain or a fell in the Lake District.

FLORENCE DOUGLAS

-What is your background in the research field/education?

After studying Classical Archaeology, I wanted to pursue an interest in primary research (and people!) in a more commercial setting. My background is in quantitative research, audience and brand consulting.

-What are your fields of interest when it comes to anything research related?

My key areas of expertise are in audience strategy, segmentation, and brand positioning. In terms of sectors, areas of particular interest to me are charities, utilities, and financial services.

-What are your hobbies and what do you like to do outside of work?

All things food related! I love to cook, and my partner and I are slowly working our way through the Michelin guide.  My book club and wine tasting are also keen interests!

A heartfelt thank you to Tom and Florence for sharing their own personal insights – we’re looking forward to continuing our journey together.
